Midday meal: Youth Congress, NSUI stage protest

The YouthCongress and the NSUI on Tuesday staged a massive protest in front Assam SarvaSiksha Abhijan Mission office in Guwahati in opposition to government move ofproviding midday meal among school children by NGO. The protesters also allegedcorruption in the midday meal scheme in the State.

"There has been a massive corruption going on in the name of providing midday meal among school children by NGOs," said a member of NSUI. They also shouted slogans against Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya. "We demand the education minister's immediate resignation," added another protester.

Later,the protesters also engaged in a clash with the police forces and the policedetained over 100 protesters to control the unruly protesters.
