In a sensational incident,the driver of a passenger vehicle attempted to rape a young girl in Jorhat'sMariani. The girl had to jump from the running vehicle in order to get awayfrom the incident.

According to reports, theincident took place in Pukhuria area in Mariani, when the driver attempted torape the girl, who was travelling in the Tata Magic vehicle. As the driver approachedthe girl, she jumped off the vehicle and cried out for help.

The locals in the areaimmediately rushed to the spot. However, the driver managed to escape from thescene.

Later police seized the vehicleand initiated an investigation based on the complaint lodged by the girl.
