Jail inmate state topper in University exam

The inmates of Mangaldai District Jail have set an example for 'where there is a will, there is a way' by showing their determination to prove themselves in academics despite being under trial.

Seven prisoners of the jail have cleared the Bachelor Preparatory Programme's (BPP) exam under Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU).

One Arupjyoti Deka, who is serving a lifetime imprisonment, has secured the all Assam first rank in the exam. The results were declared on Monday.

It may be noted that, Deka is famous as a poet, admirer of literature amid the othe other inmates of the prison.

On the other hand, another prisoner named Dhrubajyoti Deka has been able to secure the sixth rank while Ilias Purti has clinched the tenth position.

Other prisoners namely, Jeherul Haque, Saifuddin Ahmed, Pankaj Deka, Khusu Munda have also cleared the exam.

The jail authorities have expressed their happiness as all the inmates, those who had appeared for the examination, have cleared it. Also, they encouraged the jail inmates to proceed with the same enthusiasm for their next course.
