Man commits suicide, NRC blamed

Pratidin Bureau

A retired teacher of Sailabala High School in Darang's  Kharupetia committed suicide by hanging himself by the ceiling on Sunday.

The retired teacher allegedly took extreme step after failing to find his name of his name in thefinal  NRC draft. The incident came to light when  family members spotted the body of the deceased, Nirodh Baran Das  hanging by the ceiling in his living room.

Nirodh was a native of Kharupetia's Ramnagar. As per reports, the NRC officials send the retired teacher a notice two months earlier after which he was depressed.

The family members have alleged that even after having the necessary documents his name was not included in the NRC  list.  Locals of the area are in shock and outrage following the incident.

Similar incidents occurred earlier this year after the final draft  of NRC was announced.

The names of 40,07,707 people were kept out of the register by the authorities over discrepancies.
