At a time when West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee lauched tirade againt Assam NRC draft and has been trying to project herself as savior of Bengali community, the Bengali community in Assam has opposed her stand and proposed visit to the state.
A team of TMC MPs is scheduled to visit Bengali speaking people majority area in Barak valley tomorrow.
Pradip Dutta Roy, founder-president of the All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students' Association (ACKHSA) and BJP leader of Barak valley, on Wednesday alleged that Mamata Banerjee was trying to catch fish in troubled water.
"Mamata Banerjee's anti Assam NRC stand will create more trouble. She has been shedding crocodile tears for Assam Bengalis right from the day of NRC draft publication", said Roy.
Roy said that there is no conflict between Assamese and Bengalis living in the state.
"It is for Mamata government's no cooperation to NRC authority's verification data request, more than one lakh Hindu Bengalis living in the state is now out of NRC ambit now", alleged Roy.
