Boat Accident on Brahmaputra River: One Feared Dead in Lower Majuli

A tragic incident occurred at Kordoiguri in Lower Majuli when a boat capsized while crossing the Brahmaputra river with four people and cattle onboard.

Among the passengers, Utpal Saikia, also known as Gobin (43) from Bhalukmara, is feared to have lost his life when the boat capsized. However, three others—Tirtha Bhuyan, Hahiram Bora, and Bichitra Bora—were rescued alive.

It has emerged that Utpal Saikia is a teacher at a private school.

The incident unfolded during the attempt to navigate the river with livestock.

Search and rescue operations by SDRF personnel are underway to locate Gobin Saikia.
