Lumding: Newly-wed couple gets ‘onion’ as gift

At atime, when the people of the State are frustrated over the unbridled price hikeof onions, a couple at a marriage ceremony in Lumding received 'onion' as gift.

Afriend presented onion to the couple as the wedding gift. The incident tookplace on Saturday.

"Iwanted to give them some uncommon present on their wedding day that they couldremember for long and what could be most amazing than giving them a bucket ofonion during this period of time?" said the friend. Such a rare incident is nowthe much-talked-about issue in Lumding area.

It may be mentioned here that onion prices hit a record high in recent times. Onions are being sold at Rs. 120 to Rs. 150 per kg in different retail markets across the State.
