The halt in the construction of the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Power Project (LSHPP) is incurring a loss of 7821.59 million units of power per year.
This was informed by Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Power RK Singh on Thursday in Lok Sabha while replying to a question on the status various hydroelectric power project in the country.
"Since the construction of the 2000 MW Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Power Project has been put on a hold, the country per year is losing out on the production of 7821.59 million units of power," Sing said to the House.
The minister further informed the House that including LSHPP, there are 35 hydroelectric power projects in the country whose construction has been put on a hold.
"Due to this hold in construction of the 35 hydroelectric power projects, the country has been incurring a loss of 41,018.39 million units of power per year," he further informed.
Singh further informed that presently in the country there are 204 hydroelectric power projects of over 25 MW producing 45399.22 MW of power.
