Pratidin Bureau

It's always hard to obtain Visa in a foreign country. But India has loosened the rules for granting Long Term Visas to the minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

The centre is committed to provide long-term visa or citizenship to minorities of neighbouring countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh who face persecution in their homeland.

The Home Ministry has already started the process for granting long-term visas (LTVs) to Hindu minorities from the neighboring countries.

Ensure that no innocent has the feeling of sufferance only because of 'Hindu refugee tag': MHA directed Assam government.

The issue came on light because of harassment caused to Pakistani Hindu migrants for visa extension, visa transfer and grant of citizenship.

As per the official figures, around 2 lakh Hindu and Sikh refugees from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan living in India.

Meanwhile, there has been strong resistance to Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in Assam as it seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslims from Bangladesh.

The Bill will pave way for granting citizenship to illegal Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh in Assam in violation of the Assam Accord, 1985.
