Lock-Out Lifted at Teok TE

Themanagement authority of the Teok Tea Estate has finally decided to lift thelock-out in the tea garden. Following a discussion with the workers of the TeaEstate, the management authority has agreed to lift the lock-out from Thursday.

Earlier,Teok Tea Estate management had declared lock-out of the tea garden from September1, in view of the attack on the medical staff as well as on the senior managerof the TE, who had come to resolve the unruly incident.

It may be mentioned here that the incident took place after a patient named Samara Manjhi breathed his last at the hospital. The attendants and locals alleged that there were no doctor and nurse when they admitted the patient. Following the death of the patient, the angry locals beat the hospital authority and Dr Deben Dutta. During the incident, Dr Dutta sustained serious injuries and referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), but unfortunately, he expired while undergoing treatment.

According to the authority of the Teok TE, the locked-out workers have not received any wages and other benefits until today. The management had asked for written assurance of discipline and good conduct from the workers.
