Last rites of martyr Nirod Sarma performed

The last rites of CRPF jawan Nirod Sarma, killed in a terror attack in Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Wednesday, were performed with full state honours in his native village on Thursday.

The mortal remains of CRPF jawan Nirod Sarma reached Guwahati wrapped in tricolor at around 7 PM. Representative of Assam government, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Media advisor to the CM, Hrishikesh Goswami paid their tributes to the jawan.

From Guwahati, the mortal remains of the jawan has been sent to Nalbari. Later as the mortal remains of the martyr reached his village Dahkaunia in Nalbari, the people of the village tried to console his family members.

Sarma joined the CRPF in 1991 and was posted in the J&K for the last ten years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

He was among the five CRPF personnel killed in the terror attack on Wednesday. The other deceased are ASI Ramesh Kumar of Jhajjar in Haryana, CT Satendra Kumar of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, CT Mahesh Kr Kushwaha of Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh and CT Sandeep Yadav of Dewas Madhya Pradesh.
