Lalremsiami Skipped Father’s Funeral, Emotional Return To Home

The 19-yearold Lalremsiami of Indian women's hockey team from Mizoram has been trending onsocial media as she has not given up and has decided to play the finals of theFIH Women's Series Finals in Hiroshima despite the demise of her father.

Lalremsiamireturned home on Tuesday after her series who missed her father's funeral whichwas an emotional homecoming for her when she reached her village in remoteKolashib district, 80 kms away from Aizawl.

Meanwhile,India had already secured a place in the final round of Tokyo Olympicqualifiers after beating lower-ranked Chile in the semi-finals and went on towin the tournament by defeating Japan in the final.

Lalremsiami,even after got to know about her father's death due to a heart attack on Fridaylast has shown great courage and team spirit by standing with her team insteadof returning home.

After India'svictory, team captain Rani Rampal dedicated it to Lalremsiami's father.

Mizoramgovernment had greeted her back home along with the entire village.

Indiadefeated Chile by 4-2 in the semi-finals which was followed by 3-1 win overJapan as India clinched the FIH Women's Series Finals Hiroshima 2019 title onSunday.

The World No.9 Indianteam had already qualified for the FIH Olympic Qualifiers 2019 on Saturdayafter securing a place in the final of the competition.
