In a major development, the severed head of a decapitated woman was found by the Kokrajhar police on Sunday night.

45 – year-old Bimala Basumatary was murdered at her residence in Sutarpara village in Kokrajhar on Saturday night. Her husband and another person have been detained in this connection.

It has been reported Basumatary's husband had hired a person from Chirang to kill her. He beheaded her and buried her head in a forest. During the investigation on Sunday, the police found her torso, later, in the evening during a search, the police found her severed head buried in a forest.
