Kargil war veteran Sanaullah granted bail

Kargil war veteran Mohammad Sanaullah has been granted bail by the Gauhati High Court (GHC) on Friday. The Army veteran was granted interim bail and told to furnish bail bond of Rs. 20,000.

He was lodged Goalpara detention camp after being declared a 'foreigner' by Foreigners' Tribunal on May 23.

Further, the GHC bench issued notices to the Assam Government, the Government of India, the Home Ministry, NRC authorities and the investigating officer Chandramal Das.

Mohammad Sanaullah retired as an honorary Lieutenant in the Army and was arrested soon after the Assam Police Border Organisation in Guwahati summoned him on May 28. He was arrested and sent to a detention centre on the same day.
