Jiten Dutta sent to 14-day judicial custody

Jiten Dutta, Pro-talk ULFA leader  was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday. The All BTC Bengali Youth Students' Federation filed an FIR at Bijni Police Station  alleging that Dutta and Mrinal Hazarika made  objectionable speeches in a meeting held in Geetanagar on October 24.

Later, the case was transferred to Geetanagar Police Station based on the place of occurrence.

The ULFA leader was arrested based on a case number 448/2018 filed at Geetanagar PS and has been booked under 153, 153A of the IPC.

Accordingly, Dutta was arrested by the police on Friday and was produced before the court here in Guwahati on Saturday.

Advocate Bijon Mahajan, who represented Dutta, while speaking to the media said,  "Refusing the prayer for five days police custody, the court has sent Dutta to jail. Dutta has mentioned that he was not present on the said meeting on October 24," said advocate Bijon Mahajan, who represented Dutta, while speaking to the media.

Earlier on Friday,  Dutta was  detained by the police on Friday after the tragic incident that occurred on Dhola in Tinisukia District. The Sivsagar Police detained the pro talk leader from Gaurisagar. He was returning to Tinisukia from Guwahati. The police said Dutta has been detained as a precautionary measure after the Dhola mayhem in Tinisukia.
