JE Casualties On The Rise

Although the state government has taken up measures to prevent Japanese Encephalitis (JE), the casualties are increasing in the state with every passing day.

Death cases are reported from Baksa district where a girl named Ambika Tamang died of JE. The girl who belongs from Polasi in Baksa district was admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and died on Sunday.

Another case of death has been reported from Dhomdhoma in Nalbari district.

On the other hand,Balipara in Sonitpur district has also been affected by JE and another affectedby JE has been reported in Bamgaon at Balipara. The man identified as MahendraKandh, a labourer in Bamgaon Tea Estate has been admitted to Tezpur MissionHospital.

Moreover, Nagaonhas been affected by both JE and Dengue and seven persons have died of JE inthe district so far.

A woman died of JEin Puranigudam in the district. She was admitted in Dispur Hospital.

The state witnessedmore than 50 cases of death due to JE which spread to almost all the districts.This rise in cases of JE has also prompted the government to cancel doctor'sleave till September 30 to combat the disease.

So far, 12.8 lakh bloodslides have been collected and jogging operations have been intensified in1,094 affected villages.
