Indian Army-Air Force To Carry War Games in AP

Indian Army and Air Force will carry out joint war games in Arunachal Pradesh along the China border in October.

Troops havealready been moved in this direction and more than 5,000 highly specializedtroops have been deployed in mountain warfare along with over 50 transportaircraft and helicopters which will take part in the war drills.

Under themilitary exercise, the troops will be airlifted from a far off location anddropped and deployed close to a zone where they would simulate a major war withthe eastern adversary China.

The troopswill belong to the 17 Mountain Strike Corps and the Tezpur based 4 corps whichwill be tasked with defending the targets by the 17 Mountain Strike Corps.

The 17strike corps is the only formation readied for attacking enemy positions alongthe China border. The Pakistan front has three strike corps.

The troopsof the 17 strike corps would be airlifted from Baghdogra and deployed inArunachal Pradesh as part of the massive war games. This would be the first andbiggest ever war game done by the strike corps in the eastern region.
