Illegal wood seized in Bongaigaon

Forest Department officials in an operation seized illegalwood worth about two lakh rupees along with a number of wood cutting machinesat Bhandara in Bongaigaon on Sunday.

The officials suspect that the wood was brought from the nearby Manas National Park.

Locals allege that the illegal sawmills in the area have been supplying wood and timber to various places for a long time with the help of a section of corrupt forest officials.
