Illegal Wood Seized in Bokakhat and Lanka, 1 Nabbed

Large quantities of illegal woods have been seized at Bokakhat and Lanka of Assam on Thursday.

In an operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Anjan Pandit, two trucks were captured along with seizure of the illegal woods at Bokakhat.

As per sources, the two trucks carrying illegal woods were coming from Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati.

Moreover, fake documentations were also seized from one of the two trucks bearing vehicle registration number AS 01 KC 6766.

On another incident, Lanka and Nakhuti Forest Department in a joint operation nabbed an illegal trader of wood from Lumding protected forest today.

The apprehended trader has been identified as Nazrul Hoque who was caught while cutting down trees from the protected forest. However, two others had fled the scene.

Meanwhile, Narzul Hoque is being kept at the Lanka Forest Range Office.
