Hriday, Elavenil win gold in mixed team Air Rifle

India's Air Rifle mixed team junior pairing of Hriday Hazarika and Elavenil Valarivan  struck Gold at the 11th Asian Championship being held in Kuwait City. They have created new world record by scoring 502.1 beating earlier record of Elavenil Valarivan and Divansh of India.

Mehuli Ghosh and Arjun Babuta another Indian pair  won bronze in the same event.

In the 45-shot final, the gold medal winning pair made a strong start and led from the start, except briefly going into second after 20-shots, to the silver winning Chinese pair of Shi Mengyao and Wang Yuefeng.

This takes India's tally to six medals from the competition with one gold, three silvers and two bronze medals.

Earlier, Indian shooter Hriday Hazarika notched up a gold medal in the 10m air rifle junior men's event of the ISSF World Championships.

Assam boy, Hazarika, the lone Indian to qualify for the final with a score of 627.3, was tied with Iran's Mohammed Amir Nekounam on 250.1 once the field was pruned to the regulation top eight.
