Doctor beaten to death by attendant in Teok

An unfortunate and tragic incident occurred in Teok tea garden in Jorhat on Saturday evening.

The incident took place due to the absence of Doctor and nurse in the hospital where a patient named Samara Majhi breath his last at the hospital in this evening.

The attendant and the locals alleged that, there were no anydoctor and nurse when they admitted the patient in the hospital. Due to thenegligence of the hospital authority, the patient had lost his life.

As per reports, after the patient's death, the locals get angry and brutally beaten the hospital authority and Dr. Deben Dutta and smashed the hospital too. In this incident, Dr. Dutta gets critically injured and he was sent to Teok FRU for further treatment but immediately referred to JMCH, but unfortunately, Dr. Deben Dutta expired while undergoing treatment.

The workers gheraoed the hospital and Dr. Dutta had to be rescued by the magistrate and police.

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered. ADC Shri. Subhan Gowalla, ACS, will conduct the inquiry and submit a report in 7 days. Follow up action on the incident has been initiated.

It may be stated that situation in the garden is under control and under close watch. In a recent update, police have nabbed an accused named Ajai Majhi, on the allegation of involvement in today's incident.
