Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces 7 Days Leave to Employees in a Year

The Assam government announced seven days leave in a year to spend time with their parents. This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Sonapur during an inauguration programme of a Old Age Home.

Inaugurating the Old Age Home at Sonapur, CM Sarma said, "Parents are our Guru. If we misbehave with our parents, our children will also misbehave with us."

He further stated that the children should take extra care of their parents and therefore, the state government has announced a leave of 7 days in a year to spend time with their parents.

"I have also asked the private organizations to follow the same protocol and to grant a leave of 7 days to the employees," he said.

The Old Age Home has been set up at Sonapur with a cost of Rs. 3 crore 5o lakhs.

The state government has also opened a help line numbers for the elderly persons. They can lodge complain if they face any problem at 14567 'Elder Line'.

The chief minister also laid foundation stones for 1000 Anganwadi Centres.

CM Sarma also distributed wheelchairs for the physically disabled persons.
