A high-level Assam BJP meeting is currently underway at Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal's residence in New Delhi to discuss the final list of party's candidates from Assam.

Besides CM Sonowal, top Assam BJP leaders including State president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Phani Sharma, Mahendra Singh and Ajay Jamwal are present.

Earlier, it was reported that PM Narendra Modi has asked Himanta Biswa Sarma not to contest Lok Sabha poll. Reports also suggested that the party is yet to take any decisions over the candidatures in Nagaon, Guwahati and Mangaldoi constituencies.
