Guwahatians protest against irregular water supply

Guwahati is slowly becoming inhospitable without thelife-sustaining element, water in various areas. Reports of water shortage area constant grumble of the city residents.

The residents of Guwahati's Zoo Road Tiniali area on Tuesdayevening staged a dharna programme against the irregular water supply inthe area. Several senior citizens also took part in the dharna programmeand demanded immediate action from the local MLA and CM Sarbananda Sonowalregarding the issue. They further alleged that contaminated water is beingsupplied in some localities of Guwahati. They blamed Guwahati MunicipalCorporation (GMC) for their plight.

"The irregularities in water supply need to bemethodically investigated and the government needs to accelerate its pace withthe water supply schemes," said a senior citizen in Zoo Road locality.
