The most glamorous cine award function, Filmfare Awards will be hosted in Assam in February 2020 and it is for the first time that the gala event will be held out of Mumbai.
The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) will sign aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Times Group, the organizer of theevent in this regard within this month.
The award show will be hosted by Guwahati as a part of thestate government's initiative to use Bollywood's influence to promote Assamtourism at the national and international levels.
The event is likely to be held on February 15 and it will behosted at an estimated cost of Rs. 20-30 crores.
According to an official of ATDC, the MoU has already beenprepared and other practical details are in the process of being finalizedwithin this month. The award ceremony is likely to be held at Sarusajai,Khanapara and Amingaon which will have a big open space.
The official further said that it's one of the major eventsin the State tourism's hectic calendar of events and all the necessary measureshave been taken to successfully host the event of such scale having millions offollowers globally.
The Filmfare Award is being hostedby the Times of India Group since 1954. They have been contacted by Assam'sTourism Department in a bid to explore the possibility of holding it. Alreadythe Sarusajai outdoor and indoor stadiums have been inspected.
