Guwahati | Officials seize 12.5 quintal mangoes ripened using carbide

Officials of  the Food Safety Department on Friday seized 12.5 quintal mangoes, which were ripened using carbide, at Fancy Bazar in Guwahati.

The officials had conducted a raid at fruit stalls in Fancy Bazar, where they seized mangoes worth Rs 62,000.

The seized mangoes were later disposed by the department with help from the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

More raids shall be conducted in the coming days, officials informed.
