In a shocking incident in the city, yet another dead body of a youth was recovered on Sunday in the Zoo Road area of Guwahati in Assam.

The body of the youth was reportedly recovered at Bhaskar Nagar in the city's Zoo Road area on Sunday. The police suspect that the person was killed in the night and the body was dumped there.

Meanwhile, the dead body has been taken to the Chandmari Police Station. From there, it will be taken to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem.

The body was reportedly found with bruising marks at various parts of the body. The deceased has been identified as one Lachit Barman, aged 25. A resident of Kukurmara in Chaygaon, he lived in the city's Uzan Bazar area with his elder sister.

The police suspect that the mobile phone, recovered from the body, will be able to throw some light into the motive behind the murder. The post-mortem report will also help establish the cause of death.

Notably, cases of murder are on a rise in the city with several cases of heinous murders having been reported in the past couple of months. The latest incident highlights the need to strengthen vigil in the city.
