Lower Assam is now reeling under the second wave of floods. The flood affected were just beginning to return to their homes from the reliefcamps when they were compelled to revert to the camps.

There are chest deep waters at some places whereas knee deep at others. The deluge has washed away new sets of houses and devastated several acres of agricultural land.

Bhutan has also sounded alarm that it might release the excessive waters collected due to heavy and incessant rains in the neighbouring country. Red Alert has also been raised in the Barpeta district. Rescue forces have been deployed.

Medical facilities, schools and several villages have been inundated by the flooding waters. Pahumara River is flowing above the danger level and has taken a horrific form destroying anything and everything that is coming on its way.

Swollen Aai River is destroying new areas with each passing moment.

Condition of Pathsala's Bajali in the Barpeta District has not improved. Earlier on Wednesday, Police and SDRF had to rescue the victims in an overnight operation which continued till the next morning.
