Five Rohingya in Assam to be repatriated today

Another five Rohingya immigrants would be repatriated to Myanmar on Thursday afternoon through the Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh in Manipur. They were lodged in Tezpur detention centre and currently on their way to Manipur and they are likely to be repatriated to the Myanmar authorities.

According to reports, both the countries were in constant touch to facilitate the repatriation. The Rohingya to be repatriated are identified as Md Ayash, Md Riyas, Ahmed Hussain, Toyaba Khatun and Azida Begum.

Notably in October, 2018, seven Rohingya were repatriated from Silchar. Reports also suggest that around 15 Rohingya are still lodged in different detention camps in the State and their repatriation is likely to take place very soon.
