Family of Gyanendra Rajkhuwa lodges FIR against DSP

The family members of Gyanendra Rajkhuwa, who succumbed to his injuries after being shot by Golaghat police on Wednesday, have refuse to take his dead body and lodge an FIR against DSP Parthpratim Saikia at Merapani police station.

The incident took place at Habichuk in Habial village under Golaghat district. Reportedly, the man had attacked the voters with a sharp object 'dao' and created ruckus near a polling station at Habial village. The man also tried to attack police personnel.

Earlier police had said, "He was carrying a cutting edge, situation compelled us to fire on him as he attacked four persons with the sword."

Meanwhile, family members of Gyanendra termed the incident as violation of human rights and asked how a group of police personnel could not take a weapon away from a man?
