Pratidin Bureau

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Wednesday advised exam centres comprising over 400 candidates to use nearby academic institutions keeping in view the Covid protocols.

AHSEC in a notification said, "It is for your kind information that Assam Higher Secondary Education Council is going to conduct Higher Secondary Final Examination, 21 in the month of July/August 2021."

"So all the examination centres in charges of HS Final Year Exam, 2021, who have more than 400 candidates are advised to take any nearby government/provinicialised academic institutions as venues for maintaining Covid protocols," the notification added.

On Tuesday, State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said that the board exams of class 10 and 12 will likely  be held between August 1 and 15.

Mr. Pegu had also said that examinations would be conducted after the Covid-19 case positivity rate drops below 1 per cent in the state.

HSLC class 10 examinations conducted under State Education Board of Assam (SEBA), and HS class 12 examinations conducted under Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC) were scheduled to commence from May 11.

However, with the prevailing Covid situation in the state, the examinations were deferred.
