Effigy Of Arjun Munda Burnt

The activists of Koch-Rajbongshi Yuva Chatra Sanmilan (KRUCS) in Joypur Chariali in Naharkatia, Assam, burnt the effigy of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda on Saturday for allegedly commenting against granting ST status to six ethnic communities of Assam in the Parliament.

The activists shouted various slogans against the BJP government.

The organisation threatened to launch a massive stir if the government did not grant ST status to the six communities soon.

Slamming the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and Arjun Munda, the organisation said that they were given false assurances only to get the votes of the people of the six communities in the elections.

Munda's effigy was also burnt at Orang by the activists of KRYCS, All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU), and Koch-Rajbongshi Sanmilani (KRS).

They also slammed the Tribal Affairs minister over his remark on the Parliament and said that if the six ethnic communities of Assam are not recognised as Scheduled Tribe at the earliest, then their agitation will get vicious with time.
