Editors & Intellectuals Meet with Panel of Clause 6 of AA

The meetingof the High-level Committee on Clause 6 of the Assam Accord along with theintellectuals, editors of newspapers and news channels and differentorganizations is undergoing at the Assam Administrative Staff College.

Aroundtwenty editors from different media houses are present in the meeting.

Moreover, different organizations have submitted a memorandum to the committee in regard to the implementation of Clause 6.

The members of the committee willdiscuss the implementation of clause 6 with the members of Assam Sahitya Sabha aswell on October 29. It was also informed that they will discuss the matter withintellectuals and other organizations on October 30, November 1 and November 2.

It may be mentioned here that thecommittee was formed to suggest measures to be taken to protect the Assameseand other indigenous languages of Assam. The committee will also recommend theappropriate level of reservation in employment under the Government of Assamfor the Assamese people. It will also suggest any other measures as may be necessaryto protect, preserve and promote the cultural, social, linguistic identity andheritage of the Assamese people.

The committee will submit its reportwithin six months from the date of notification.
