Dry Day Declared in the state on Tuesday

Assam government has declared a dry day in the state on Tuesday on the occasion of the 571st birth anniversary of Shrimanta Shankardeva and Vijaya Dashami.

Vice-Chairperson at State Anti Drug & Prohibition CouncilLucky Gogoi in a Tweet said, "In view of observation of Janmotsava of Sri SriSankardeva on October 8, 2019. Govt. of Assam declares this day as #DryDaythroughout the state of Assam."

Liquor shops across the state will remain closed on Tuesday. The district administration has been instructed by the government that there should not be any sale, consumption or possession of any intoxicant.

According to the order issued by the state government, violationof the order shall be dealt with seriously under the relevant provisions of theAssam Excise Act, 2000.
