Drunk biking: 2 injured as bike rams divider

Two persons were seriously injured after the motor-cycle (ML-10-B-2563) they were travelling in rammed into a divider over the National Highway in Guwahati. The incident was reported from Sarusajai area on Wednesday night.

Police said they suspect the two occupants of the motor-cycle were under the influence of alcohol and were over-speeding. Police also recovered bottles of liquor from the spot of the accident.

Identified as Kaushik Das and Rony, the duo was admitted to Health City Hospital. Police said they were driving towards Lokhra from Basistha when the incident occurred.

"They have been heavily drunk because we recovered bottles of soda, water and liquor from the spot of the accident. We are, however, waiting for the medical reports," said a police officer.
