The BarpetaPolice on Wednesday evening arrested a cadre of the Jamaat-ul-MujahideenBangladesh (JMB) – an Islamic terrorist organization – from a secret locationin Barpeta district.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Ajaharuddin. He has been absconding for the last five years. Ajaharuddin hails from Tarabari area under the Barpeta district.

Authorities were keeping a watch on JMB's activities for long, and increased their surveillance in recent days. "We were keeping a watch on JMB's activities for a long time. We got specific inputs about a cadre, and we later arrested him," said a top Police officer of Bhabanipur PS.

Meanwhile,the JMB leader has been sent to 7-day police custody.
