Discussions over an alternate government in Assam start to catch pace

Pratidin Bureau

The call for an alternative government has now taken serious pace in Assam as Congress party and other regional parties have come together to fight against BJP.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, from the last few days, has been quite vocal on the formation of an alternative government in Assam. They have openly said that they are ready to support Asom Gana Parshad (AGP) to form a government if they break the alliance with BJP.

AGP recently have been in line of fire from Friday for their inability to raise the issue of the much debated Citizenship Bill in the cabinet meeting after continuous assurance

The party also urged CM Sarbananda Sonowal to come out of BJP's grip and take the lead to form a new government in the State. Congress party leaders said that they will willingly support this if he can save his title of 'Jatiya Nayak' (Regional Hero) by ditching BJP.
