At a time, when Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal is continuously stating that his government has made Assam police a smart police force; a police out-post near Guwahati has brought out the actual conditions of the smart police. The Border Out-Post (BOP) of Patarkuchi in Kamrup (M) district is in a dilapidated condition with leakage in the roofs, without drinking water and without proper sanitation system.

Though,there was onsite barracks, they are actually an utter disgrace to thecommunity. The buildings are in poor structural condition, lack proper interiorfixtures and are falling apart due to lack of repairs.

"Wehave informed our condition to Commissioner, Border SP and other higherauthorities, but they have not done anything to meet our demand," said a policepersonnel in the out-post.

The policemen in the out-post also said that the condition in the out-post worsens during the rainy season. "The rainwater enters our rooms," added a police officer. They further informed that they have to buy drinking water on their own.

Now, the question arises as to why the government has not allotted sufficient funds to get repair the police out-posts like the one in Patarkuchi.
