Pratidin Bureau

The bodies of five dead in a tragic accident in Gaurisagar's Dikhowmukh at 6:45 pm on Saturday evening have still not been recovered. The car carrying five persons of the same family allegedly lost control and fell into the Dikhow River.

Although a SDRF team reached at the spot last evening but due to technical glitches could not operate their two speed boats which disrupted the rescue operation. Adverse weather conditions were also one of the reason which led to the disruption in the rescue operation.

However, there have been reports from local sources that the police has been staying away from the incident and SDRF team had not reached the spot until 8:30 in the morning on Sunday.

Witnesses of the accident said that after the car crashed into the river, the family had cried for help. All present tried their best to break the glass to bring out those trapped inside, but all in vain, after which the car floated for around 200m and gradually drowned.

A NDRF team has also reached the spot of the accident.

Both the teams have started their operations and further information is awaited.
