Dikhow accident : No trace of the missing family yet

A search operation will be launched by a navy team from Visakhapatanam in the Dikhow River in search of the lost 5-member family. The search operation is likely to start from the evening. The Indian Navy has offered help  to search the lost family after the DC of Sivasagar asked help from the Navy .

Earlier, a team from the 21 para commando of the Indian Army had launched search operation on Monday morning to trace the ill-fated Maruti Swift Dzire vehicle inside which the five members of a family are suspected to have been drowned in the Dikhow River at Dichial village of Dikhowmukh area in upper Assam's Sivasagar district on Saturday evening.

The car carrying five persons of the same family allegedly lost control and fell into the Dikhow River.

Although  SDRF – NDRF teams reached at the spot on Saturday, but due to technical glitches could not operate their two speed boats which disrupted the rescue operation. Adverse weather conditions were also one of the reason which led to the disruption in the rescue operation.

However, there have been reports from local sources that the police has been staying away from the incident and SDRF team had not reached the spot until 8:30 in the morning on Sunday.
