Engine Detaches From Running Train In Assam's Dibrugarh

In a bewildering incident, the engine detached from a runnning train and traveled for some distance before coming to a stop in Assam's Dibrugarh on Tuesday.

As per reports, the engine of the Dibrugarh-Howrah Kamrup Express came off while the train was running. The incident occurred somewhere between the Chaulkhowa and Lahoal railway stations in Dibrugarh.

Following the incident, commotion erupted amongst the passengers on the train who feared for their life.

However, speaking to Pratidin Time, Sabyasachi De, the chief public relations officer at Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) downplayed the severity of the incident.

"It was no accident. It was a train parting incident where the locomotive and one coach detached from the train. It happened at 08:30 PM in Lahoal Chalkhowa section of Tinsukia Division and was set right at 09:30 PM. The train left for its destination then," De said.
