Two unidentified bodies were recovered on a railway track at Dulijan in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Tuesday morning.

Sources informed that the lifeless bodies were found lying on the railway tracks near an LPG plant of the Oil India Limited (OIL).

A bicycle was also recovered in the vicinity, potentially indicating that the duo might have been struck by a speeding train, sources said.

The identifies of the deceased individuals are yet to be established.

Recently, a wild elephant was killed after being hit by a Down Vivek Express in Assam's Jorhat district. The incident was reported at Baidiha camp near Bhelaguri Tea Estate in the Mariani area of the district.

According to reports, when a herd of elephants on prowl tried to cross the railway track at Bhelaguri tea garden near the Mariani area, Down Vivek Express hit one elephant of the herd.

It is worth mentioning that last year as many as three wild elephants reportedly died after being mowed down by speedy trains at the same spot.
