The 24-hour Chakka Bandh called by All Assam Motor TransportAssociation (AAMTA) has affected the normal communication of the public as thecity buses are not plying on the roads.

The commuters are facing problems, especially in the morning hours as most of the people depend on public transport to go to the office, schools, and colleges. Commuters are seen waiting at the bus stoppages for hours, and as the Durga Puja is round the corner and people have to rush to market for shopping, the Chakka bandh has brought a halt in the routine.

The AAMTA has called the bandh in protest against the hike inpetrol-diesel prices and other essential commodities. They have also demandedto reduce the insurance fees and to increase the bus fare.

The bandh has been called from 5 AM on October 3 to 5 AM of October 4.
