The illegalcoal mining has taken a new dimension although the Sarbananda Sonowalgovernment has given a CBI inquiry into the coal scam that is going on in thestate especially in Upper Assam.

The coal syndicate in Upper Assam has risen to that level that even the hillside in Tipong at Margherita under Digboi subdivision has not been spared by coal mafia. The Gauhati High Court has also filed a PIL 3/2018 against the coal syndicate that is going on in Upper Assam.

The benchled by Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Arup Kumar Goswami and JusticeManish Choudhury after hearing the case directed the Deputy Commissioners ofTinsukia and Dibrugarh to investigate into the matter and asked them to submita report on July 31 or before.

The courthas also ordered to include the DC of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh as the respondentof the PIL.

The BJP-ledgovernment in the state had assured to excavate the illegal coal mininghappening in the state after it came into power but it seems that the coalsyndicate in the state is increasing day by day. It is not only the coalsyndicate but the syndicates in stone, wood, sand, cattle etc. are on the riseunder the Sonowal-led government.
