CM Sarbananda Sonowal reviews status of welfare schemes in Assam’s tea garden areas

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday reviewed status of healthcare and progress of welfare schemes in tea garden areas of Assam in a meeting with senior officials at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.

In the review meeting, CM Sonowal directed officials to ensure regular availability of medicines in tea garden areas.

Sarbananda Sonowal also reviewed preparedness of providing Rs 12,000 each to pregnant women of tea garden areas for better health and nutrition.

Sarbananda Sonowal directed officials to speed up process of providing smart phones to 'Sardars' of tea gardens to monitor better implementation of schemes.

To promote hygiene and healthy practices, the CM directed officials to provide Rs 600 each for sanitary napkins to girls between ages of 12-20 with yearly family income below 5 Laks,

He also directed the concerned departments to construct 100 high schools in tea garden areas.
