Civilian Casualty In NE More Than Insurgents

According to statistics with the Union Home Ministry, the number of a civilian casualty in insurgency-related violence in the north-eastern states until March this year is more than the casualty suffered by the insurgent organizations.

This comes close against Centre'sclaim of declining insurgency in the Northeast.

As per the statistics, 16 civilians have been killed in 104 insurgency-related violence in region this year. The major civilian casualty took place in Arunachal Pradesh where as many as 11 civilians were killed by suspected NSCN-IM militants.

Two other security personnel werealso killed in 20 different incidents that took place in the state.

Four security personnel andcivilians were killed in 50 different incidents that took place and twoextremists were also killed during the same time in the state in May.
