A century-old statue of Lord Vishnu has been excavated from the premises of the Cotton University on Thursday from a construction site.

According to reports, the idol was recovered byconstruction workers while they were digging the land for construction of a newbuilding.

The authorities of the university will hand over theidol to the archaeological department to examine the age of the statue.

It has been suspected by the archaeological department that the idol was of the 11-12 century.
