Cabinet’s decision is election bait: APCC

Pratidin Bureau

Ripun Bora, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president on Thursday said that the Union Cabinet's decision on Assam Accord was nothing but an election bait.

While addressing a press conference on Thursday, Bora said, "The cabinet's decision of the Assam Accord was nothing but just an election bait. There have been several committees constituted earlier for implementation of Assam Accord. No one knows when will the final report be submitted by the committee."

Bora further said that the decision to set up a High Level Committee for implementation of Clause 6 of Assam Accord was itself contradictory as the BJP is continuously trying to break the aforementioned Accord by passing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
