CAB: AGP stages hunger-strike

The protest against the much debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill continues in Assam as the regional party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Thursday organizing hunger-strike in protest against the Bill.

The members of the party are staging hunger-strike on the bank of Dighalipukhuri in the city. Party president Atul Bora along with leaders Keshab Mahanta, Brindaban Goswami, Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Dilip Patgiri, Satyabrata Kalita are present in the strike.

While speaking to Pratidin Time, president Atul Bora said, "We will continue our protest as the Citizenship Amendment Bill violates Assam accord, according to which all Bangla migrants, Hindu or Muslim, who entered after March 24, 1971, are foreigners."

Earlier, AGP broke its tie with the saffron party over Centre's stand on the Bill. Notably, protesting against the Bill, the AASU on Wednesday staged Khilanjiyar Bajra Ninad in the city, where thousands of people from across the State took part.
