Taking firm steps against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the members of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have been meeting Rajya Sabha MPs in Delhi since Friday. They have been continuously pushing the opposition MPs to vote against the Bill in the Rajya Sabha. Besides AGP, members of KMSS-led 70 organisations have also been visiting the opposition MPs of Rajya Sabha in Delhi.

The AGP delegation led by party president Atul Bora met Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday evening and urged him to vote against the Bill. Sources informed that the senior Congress leader reiterated party president Rahul Gandhi's decision on the Bill and assured the members of the regional party that if the Bill is presented on the Rajya Sabha, the Congress MPs in the house will vote against the Bill. The AGP delegation also met Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan in this regard.

On the other hand, to unite the political powers against the contentious Bill, the delegation of KMSS led by Akhil Gogoi met Samajwadi Party MP in Rajya Sabha, Ram Gopal Yadav and asked him to take stand against the Bill. Meanwhile, Yadav assured the 70 organisations' members that the BJP government is not likely to present the much debated Bill in Rajya Sabha in this session of the parliament.
